Finding Vintage In Ramadhan: Rawkmadhan

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Hunting

A nice, cool vintage fair at Rawkmadhan.

Vintage hunting during fasting month can be quite a challenge as most hunting places are outdoor and just too hot for this fasting body. So for a chance it was really nice to visit a full-air-conditioned vintage fair held by demajors as part of an event called Rawkmadhan, in Gandaria last week. This fair focused on vinyls, CD, cassettes, and some music instruments, plus of course vintage comics, magazines, ads, toys and other items such as cameras and suitcases. Some of the vendors and the vintage fellows are familiar faces, some others are cool hipsters who are now becoming vintage junkies. As usual, in spite of coming there in a rush I somehow managed to secure some cool vinyls from Ridwan, a flip clock from Ferdy, and a red President suitcase from Omen. This is the good thing about fair or bazaar: the stuff is more well-selected, so we can make a quick decision. By the way, aside from this record fair, Rawkmadhan also presented talk show, music performance and exhibitions. What a cool way to kill time during Ramadhan. Thanks for the iniative Adhi Djimar and friends. Look forward to more cool event next time.

Cool record fair attracts cool crowds.

Love that flip clock at Ferdy's corner.

At Ari's corner, I spotted a pop rock vinyl by Bimbo.

Tin toys seem to be present in every vintage fair I go.

Historical records by legendary Koes Bersaudara, whoever owns these vinyls -- he is one lucky fellow.

My Vintage Find: Look What I Get!

An antique glass painting of three ladies in kimonos which I found at Hana-Zuno flea market in Tokyo is a real steal. Besides, it goes just beautiful with the Chinese tennis player lady from Taman Puring. Do you have a street find or a flea market buy that you want to share here? Please send the photo(s) to luthfi_hasan@yahoo.com. Lets find and share!
