  1. My Hunting Field 6: Mayestik

Everybody knows Pasar Mayestik for what it has to offer, which includes fabric, clothing, food, baking utilities and auto parts. Many like it because the place has that nostalgic aura of the merry old days through different mom and pop shops which sell practically anything. I like all that too, plus the fact that it has –what else– vintage goods. Yes, this is my other hunting ground, in fact the first place to go when I look for antique and vintage chandeliers. There are only two shops specializing in vintage here, plus some other shops that sell vintage looking household goods. It’s good to know that in between food and fabric I can also fulfill my vintage appetite. Have a nice weekend everyone!

This vintage bike is displayed outside the shop.

Whether you get it as a gift from parents or friends, or you found it in the flea market, collecting vintage –or stocking? –  is always fun and addictive. It seems there is always an excuse to hunt for more, and there are always rooms for new finds.

Here are some vintage stuff that i have gained from many different sources.

This Garrara turntable comes with an AM/MW radio, or the other way around. Officially belongs to my parents but looks more appropriate in my home, so I would always say it’s mine.

Pretty ceramic fruit bowl, from my mother. (more…)

An antique glass painting of three ladies in kimonos which I found at Hana-Zuno flea market in Tokyo is a real steal. Besides, it goes just beautiful with the Chinese tennis player lady from Taman Puring. Do you have a street find or a flea market buy that you want to share here? Please send the photo(s) to luthfi_hasan@yahoo.com. Lets find and share!
