  1. Finding Vintage In Ramadhan: Rawkmadhan

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Hunting

A nice, cool vintage fair at Rawkmadhan.

Vintage hunting during fasting month can be quite a challenge as most hunting places are outdoor and just too hot for this fasting body. So for a chance it was really nice to visit a full-air-conditioned vintage fair held by demajors as part of an event called Rawkmadhan, in Gandaria last week. This fair focused on vinyls, CD, cassettes, and some music instruments, plus of course vintage comics, magazines, ads, toys and other items such as cameras and suitcases. Some of the vendors and the vintage fellows are familiar faces, some others are cool hipsters who are now becoming vintage junkies. As usual, in spite of coming there in a rush I somehow managed to secure some cool vinyls from Ridwan, a flip clock from Ferdy, and a red President suitcase from Omen. This is the good thing about fair or bazaar: the stuff is more well-selected, so we can make a quick decision. By the way, aside from this record fair, Rawkmadhan also presented talk show, music performance and exhibitions. What a cool way to kill time during Ramadhan. Thanks for the iniative Adhi Djimar and friends. Look forward to more cool event next time.

  2. Vintage Fair At Kemang

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Hunting

Yesterday was a fun day for vintage passionistas especially for those who had a chance to visit Vintage Fair held by tokove in Kemang Selatan, and I was lucky I was one of them. I got there around 4.30 when the weather was just nice. It was also nice to see some familiar faces especially among the sellers, who own shops in Taman Puring, Kebayoran Lama and Blok M Square. As for the items being offered, which includes vinyls, books, comics, posters, CD and cassettes, I saw some other interesting pieces which I don’t see that often: toys, calendar and ads. What amazed me though is how these passionista fellows get and gather that old pieces and keep them so neatly almost in original condition. I guess it’s passion, no? Here are the photos of yesterday event. Happy Monday!

Koes Plus, Guruh Gipsy and Badai Pasti Berlalu are among legends in Indonesia music industry, and the most sought after in the vintage community.

You can touch, read, try and it's OK if you don't buy, Cool.

  3. My Hunting Field 3: Blok M Square

Yes, this unassuming mall is my other hunting ground which i frequently visit, mostly during my lunch break. Here I can spoil my vintage appetite for old books, vintage comics and secondhand magazines as well as cassettes, CD, turntable, vinyl, poster, and some other stuff such as suitcases. With Jakarta’s unfriendly weather and traffic…

…it’s good to have an option to vintage hunt in an air-conditioned space and with conveniences of a mall. Perhaps this rather fancy place is more suitable for –dare I say– the vintage passionistas  (Maribelle, I love your term!).
