    Majestic Lounge Chair.

Say hello to Billy, Dotty, and Tidny and their friends. There are 29 (twentynine) new chairs — I mean vintage chairs– from Jakarta Vintage Collection, all in fresh new fabrics. In this collection I try to explore different colors such as black and blue, and gray, oh and red too. Well, practically every color. The motif this time varies too, from the oh-so-in polka dot to graphics and ….plain! I thought the overall theme is fun, quirky and playful. And current. What do you think? And whatever happens with the idea of using the recycled fabrics like in our January collection? That will come soon too, just wait. Click here for more models and details.

    Dark Star arm chair. H: 93cm, W: 46cm, L: 52cm. Ready Stock: 1 (one) unit. Rp. 3,690,000.

THE LATEST CHAIR COLLECTION OF JAKARTA VINTAGE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED. Thank you for waiting. This time around there are  29 (twenty nine) authentic vintage chairs in FRESH NEW FABRICS. Some are IKEA’s fabrics, some are just good looking fabrics which I found in the fabric shop, not necessarily in the home furnishing shop.

I hope you like some– if not all the chairs.

I have also good news for you: WE CAN DO REPLICA/ REPRODUCTION and  CUSTOM MADE chairs too. So if your choice of chair is sold out already,  dont worry. we can make a copy for you, with the same dimensions (or even different!), but with our fabrics, mostly recycled or our own Jakarta Vintage fabrics which will be launched soon. Or you can insist to use your own fabrics too, if you like. So just tell me which chair that you like, which fabrics that you want to use, and I will make it for you in 3-4 week time.

And, may I remind you of this important fact: that ALL the wood for the frame/ body is OLD wood, be it the authentic/original chairs or the replica. It is my commitment and belief that you can be stylish and friendly to the earth at the same time.

I will be happy to get your feedback, just email or text me. I will respond to you soonest. Keep cool and stay vintage:)

  3. Black and Beautiful in Kuningan

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Cool Vintage

This big deer head makes a beautiful presence and personality.

Black is beautiful, and it’s so true in the case of Otel Lobby restaurant in Kuningan. The decor concept is actually simple: a hotel lobby with a touch of New York –perhaps, gothic –obviously, and vintage –of course. So I think. When I enter the restaurant, I feel like entering a different universe. The big industrial clock, the ping pong ball chandelier, the deer head, and all one off pieces blend beautifully. It gets even better when crispy duck salad, famous beef wellington and yummy home made ice cream are served on your table. No wonder I always want to come again and again. For the good taste in food, decor and overall ambience that is.

  4. Extra Ordinary Designs At Desain.ID 2012

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Art and Culture

Table lamps, made of bicycle wheels. Beautiful execution of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The most anticipated event on interior design in Indonesia –Desain.ID 2012– has just kicked off at Jakarta Convention Center last Wednesday. This year it focuses on “design in extra ordinary means”…Well, for me it means I have to find extra ordinary and iconic designs to be highlighted here, not hard at all as there are so many interesting works there. Here is my personal choice. Have a restful weekend!

  5. Vintage and The City 2: Home & Decor

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Space

An abstract painting, a vintage cabinet, an Aedi sofa, and a marrocoan coffee table. A warm welcome to the tiny apartment.

Remember my posting in June titled “Vintage and The City” which highlighted an apartment in Senayan? Last month the Home & Decor magazine –with the tagline: stylish living made easy– visited the apartment and shot it for its August edition. So last week I bought a copy of the magazine, and when I flipped pages 68-75, it looks –shall i say it– more beautiful than the real thing. But of course. The photographer –Erwin Panjaitan– is a pro, so is the stylist, Stephani F Halim. Here are the photos from my iPhone. The title of the article is “Prudent Treasures”, but I would call it “Vintage Invasion In Modern Apartment”. What do you think? O by the way the space interior design is by me.

  6. 10 Pieces of Art I Would Bring Home 4

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Art and Culture

Syaiful AR's Bruce Lee with his iconic pose, will make any space...iconic.

Bazaar Art Jakarta 2012 –the biggest art market in Indonesia, they say– which I attended last weekend was a bit overwhelming for me and I mean it in a good way. There are just too many good things and too little time. From beautiful paintings, installations, kinetics, photography to cool furniture and interior pieces. But for today’s posting I will only focus on the paintings. Paintings that get my attention the first time I saw it, and stick in my mind after I left the exhibition. Yes, I tend to like paintings that are iconic and make a statement. Here is my choice based on: would they look fabulous in my vintage space or would they work with my vintage pieces.

  7. Belle File on Mid Century Revival

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Cool Vintage

Belle, one of the most stylish interior magazines from Australia issued a special edition in 2001 on the revival of mid century style, and I am lucky to have a copy of the magazine. Thanks to Tera, a secondhand book shop in Taman Puring. When I looked at the content and the photos, i thought i must share them with you as they are amazing, sooo belle…I am sure you agree.

  8. Vintage Spotting in The Weekend

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Hunting

Working over the weekend is not exactly my idea of a fun weekend. No one’s idea. Until i filled it with vintage encounters. This is my way of being positive in otherwise an annoying weekend: in between work, i managed to do some vintage spotting and tried to switch off for a while.

First at a super fancy restaurant in Kuningan, followed by a visit at a modern apartment in Senayan, then at a clothing outlet at FX, and ending up in a food court in Gandaria City. Here are some photos of my weekend — which when I look at them again, I forgot what a boring weekend it could become have I had not managed to do vintage spotting and stayed positive. .

In a corner at one of the most happening restaurants in town, Otel Lobby in Kuningan, this pretty poor deer is hung on the wall. Adding drama to the dark interior design of the restaurant. While many people may find it a bit  scary or intimidating, i find it “vintageful” and beautiful. Approved.

The interior of Eat and Eat food court in Gandaria City capitalizes in old doors in fading color. Taking you to the good old days somewhere in the past. (more…)

  9. Vintage At Work (Part 2): In Video

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Video, Vintage Space

How vintage blends with people and gadgets at work as seen in our first posting can now be seen more in this video. A cut from the Dulux Lets Color program on Metro TV broadcast in April 2012. Enjoy and be inspired.

  10. Vintage Home 1: House of Paintings

Posted by Luthfi Hasan in Vintage Space

Our very first vintage home belongs to Handoko, located in Bintaro, Jakarta. The house is not exactly vintage but the owner gave some vintage touches on the house. In his past time Handoko –an author, photographer, film director, advertising creative director, story teller, host of a radio program…gosh!–

likes to paint with her daughter Masya (o it’s her 8th birthday today, enjoy the day Masya!) that explains why everywhere you go in the house you will see lots of paintings, making it like a gallery. Almost all furniture in the house are vintage or mid century inspired. Cool!

My Vintage Find: Look What I Get!

An antique glass painting of three ladies in kimonos which I found at Hana-Zuno flea market in Tokyo is a real steal. Besides, it goes just beautiful with the Chinese tennis player lady from Taman Puring. Do you have a street find or a flea market buy that you want to share here? Please send the photo(s) to luthfi_hasan@yahoo.com. Lets find and share!
